Parts of the original castle remain, incorporated into the church and also as an independent tower. Panzano is surrounded by prize-winning vineyards, including il Molino di Grace. There is a wonderful view out over the “conca d’oro”, the “golden scallop”, a south-facing basin lined with vines. Panzano is known for several popular food and wine festivals, and it has several restaurants and many agriturismi in the surrounding countryside. Worth a visit.
